Full Earth Map. The political divisions of the world, which can be gathered from world political maps, helps you understand the world better. The world political map outline presented here is a detailed representation of the seven principal oceans and the seven continents marked with latitudes and longitudes on the curved surface of the earth.

Some of the largest independent nations in the world are the People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation, the United States of America, Canada, India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Australia, while the smallest nations include the Vatican City, Monaco, Andorra, and Singapore.

As represented on the world map, certain countries like Brazil, Australia, and Indonesia enjoy long coastlines, while others are completely landlocked like Bhutan, Switzerland and Lesotho.

The world political map shows dependent territories, like Greenland and the Faroe Islands of Denmark, as well as the French Overseas Territories, which are geographically and culturally distinct, enjoying some degree of autonomy but are not independent states.

The globe map also represents Special Administrative Regions like Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR that possess most of the characteristics of independent nations under the one country two systems' policy and enjoy substantial autonomous status but yet are integral parts of the People's Republic of China.

It is the division of the world into separate political entities is what is meant by political boundaries. The political world map shows how some of the borders are created by geological features such as mountains and rivers, while others are solely politically demarcated.

The map shown follows the latest globally accepted standards for national boundaries.

A world map is a map of most or all of the surface of the Earth. World maps form a distinctive category of maps due to the problem of projection. Maps by necessity distort the presentation of the earth's surface. These distortions reach extremes in a world map. The many ways of projecting the earth reflect diverse technical and æsthetic goals for world maps.[1] World maps are also distinct for the global knowledge required to construct them. A meaningful map of the world could not be constructed before the European Renaissance because less than half of the earth's coastlines, let alone its interior regions, were known to any culture. New knowledge of the earth's surface has been accumulating ever since and continues to this day. Maps of the world generally focus either on political features or on physical features. Political maps emphasize territorial boundaries and human settlement. Physical maps show geographic features such as mountains, soil type or land use. Geological maps show not only the surface, but characteristics of the underlying rock, fault lines, and subsurface structures.
